Black Hawk County Farm Bureau
Black Hawk County Ag in the Classroom
Where Farm Meets Classroom

Welcome!

Black Hawk County Farm Bureau has a rich history of agriculture and education dating back to 1912 when our first Board President was elected.

Agriculture is a topic that students can connect with because they encounter it often.
From what we eat, drink, wear and use, agriculture connects us all!
Ag in the Classroom provides a real-world, hands-on approaches that covers:

Agriculture & The Environment
Plants and Animals for Food, Fiber & Energy
Food, Health & Lifestyle
Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math
Culture, Society, Economy & Geography

Why Ag in the Classroom?
As of 2017, Black Hawk County had roughly 95 family farms, covering 292,163 acres of land. As technology has improved and generations were farther removed from the farm, the level of agriculture knowledge decreased.

The mission of the Black Hawk County Ag in the Classroom is to spread agriculture education throughout the county!

Farming is no longer just an occupational specialty, it's an integral part of every student's life! It is important for students to understand agriculture production, technology, and processing and how it all fits together in providing our basic needs, food, clothing, and shelter.
